Design and Development of a Quadrupedal Intelligent Robot Research Platform JROB-2

English / Japanese

@A quadrupedal intelligent robot JROB-2 is developed as a research platform, in which an embedded PC, sensors, and batteries are integrated on the TITAN-VIII which is developed by Tokyo Institute of Technology.

Fig. 1 Overview of JROB-2.

@Since the JROB-2 is equipped with a PC and batteries, it is a self-sustaining system. The JROB-2 is connected to the network via radio ethernet communication.
@Teleoperation systems using Graphical User Interface (GUI) and a joypad have been developed so far for to control JROB-2 from remote places. Furthermore, for an easier and natural teleoperation, another user interface is newly developed with a steering wheel and an assembly of pedals.
@The vision-based local intelligence of JROB-2 is also under development to enable it react with the dynamic changes in the environment.
